PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands) is a scientific and technological infrastructure located in the Canary Islands, Spain, dedicated to research, development, and innovation in the fields of oceanography and marine technology. PLOCAN's main objective is to foster scientific excellence and promote economic growth by providing cutting-edge facilities and services to national and international researchers and companies. PLOCAN's infrastructure includes a multipurpose offshore platform located off the northeast coast of Gran Canaria, equipped with state-of-the-art oceanographic and marine technology equipment. The platform enables a wide range of marine research activities, including ocean observation, marine robotics testing, underwater communication, and renewable energy research. PLOCAN's research activities cover a broad range of topics, including ocean observation and forecasting, marine biology and ecology, ocean energy, maritime safety, and marine technology innovation. PLOCAN also promotes technology transfer and knowledge exchange through collaboration with other research institutions, universities, and companies. To manage the knowledge generated in PLOCAN, a knowledge management model has been designed, which includes identification and generation of knowledge, acquisition of external knowledge, storage and organization of knowledge, distribution and transfer of knowledge, and continuous evaluation and improvement of the knowledge management model.
